Celebrating Gandhi Jayanthi 🇮🇳: A Day of Reflection, Service, and Togetherness

On October 2, 2024, Valiyam Memorial College of Teacher Education hosted a memorable Gandhi Jayanthi celebration. The event began with a soulful prayer by the college choir, followed by an inauguration by G.R. Krishna Kumar, Secretary of the Gandhi Peace Foundation in Kollam. The atmosphere was enriched by words of encouragement from the principal, Sri Remasan K, the administrative officer, Sri Radhakrishnan, and the Dept. of Physical Science's Smt. Saranya.

The spirit of Gandhi's values continued with Sevanavaram, a voluntary service initiative where the students took charge of cleaning the college premises, embracing the essence of cleanliness and community service.

To add warmth and togetherness to the event, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch of kappa and Meen curry, lovingly prepared by the students themselves, creating a perfect blend of simplicity and collaboration in honour of the Mahatma's ideals.

“Live as if you were to die tomorrow; learn as if you were to live forever” - Mahatma Gandhi.
